I have a server running ubuntu 9.04 with webdav (amongst many things). I have absolutley no problems logging in to the webdav server using AirSharing, however when I use any browser I cannot log on :( All I get is the password screen where I punch in my credentials, and then "403 you do not have permission to access/webdav/ on this server"
This is my entry into /etc/apache/sites-avaiable/default and it looks pretty OK to me...so any ideas anyone?

Hi,

I am seeking a simple way to copy files from the iPhone to a Linux media centre PC (both devices accessible through a wireless network), and am wondering if Air Sharing or Air Sharing Pro can do this with any of the tools I already have available to me on the Linux box, namely Samba and SSH (without getting too tricky e.g. configuring WebDAV

Hi,

First, this is one great app. I seriously appreciate the Linux support.

Second, and just for everyone's information, most modern Linux distros (including recent Gnome-based Debian/Ubuntu
desktops) have an avahi-based service discovery applet. E.g. install with "apt-get install service-discovery-applet" and
select the applet Panel->Add to Panel->Zeroconf Discovery Service.

If the Air Sharing service is running, right click the icon, move to the WebDAV File Share item, and the iphone will be
detected by name (using the phone name, e.g. mine is "Martin's iPhone" ), and with a single click, you have folder on your
desktop. Don't need to worry about typing the IP. This worked for me out of the box. I love it.

I am entering the actual numbers the iPod gives me for the dotted quad, just to confirm. :-)

Hi

Copying small files works fine. Anything over a few 10s of MBs and and the transfer fails. The progress bar gets to the end and then sits ther for perhaps 30 seconds. My wireless network is working fine for all other purposes. I can copy large files from my media server using samba to my laptop just fine.

I'm using the pro version of air shairing.

The error message reads "There was an error copying the file into dev://192.168.0.93:8080/Public. Cannot connect to destination."

I connect to the device simply by putting dev://192.168.0.93:8080 in the gnome file browser.

Any thoughts?

If I cannot get the software to copy large files to and from linux it it useless to me and I'll be wanting a refund.

Also any plans to support the samba protocol?

Thx

I have been testing Air Sharing using Fedora 64 bit Linux v9 and a iPod touch v2.1. Findings so far:

Using WebDAV access:

1. If I require a password to mount, I can't connect. It just keeps asking for the password. If no password is required, it connects fine.
2. Create folder, rename folder, delete folder and create file all work.
3. Delete file gives me an error "Invalid Response" and does not delete the file.
4. Move file has same problem as delete ... it copies the file to the new folder but doesn't delete the old one, same error message. I end up with copies in both folders.
5. I can delete the file on the iTouch and it is reflected on the workstation.
